NATIONAL D-DAY MEMORIAL - $30

The grounds for the monument take visitors on an
archival journey through World War II and the
politics and perils that embody the time period.
Paying tribute to the men and women who served
their country in one of its most dire battles, the D-
Day National Memorial creates a solemn
atmosphere for veterans and visitors alike to gain
insight and learn more about the events that shaped
our nation’s and our world’s history. The fee
includes the trip, ticket, and guided tour by golf
cart. Participants are responsible for their own

Join us for a trip to the Downtown Mall in
Charlottesville! One of the most notable shopping
areas is the historic, pedestrian Downtown Mall, a
half-mile of restaurants with outdoor dining,
theaters, boutique shops, and venues. The mall is
lined with family-owned businesses and places
you’ll be recommending to your friends.
Please note: Participants will be dropped off
downtown to explore at their own pace and will be
responsible for their own lunch. Be prepared for
walking, including some hills and uneven sidewalks.

KEFFER OAK - A.T. HIKE - $10
Sept. 4, 9 am - 5 pm, Newport, VA
Come along with us to visit the 2nd largest oak tree on the
Appalachian Trail, the Keffer oak. Well-known on the trail
as a landmark for through-hikers. This White Oak is over
300 years old. Please note: This short hike is rated as a
level III hike with 200" of elevation gain. Lunch will be on
your own at a local BBQ restaurant, Bluegrass BBQ.
POTLUCK AT THE PARK - $5 plus bring a dish
Sept. 9, 11 am, Teel Park, Riner, VA
Food tastes better together! Bring your favorite dish that is
homemade or store-bought, and enjoy a community
potluck in the park. We’ll take care of the water, plates,
napkins, and silverware so you can focus on sharing a
meal and making connections. The deadline to register or
withdraw is Sept. 2.
DIY WOODEN SIGN - Pay at the Store
Sept. 10, 1 pm, Paint n Fun, Christiansburg Mall
Join us at Paint n Fun at Christiansburg Mall for a
great afternoon of painting! Participants will pick
out which wooden sign or ceramic piece they want
and pay at the store for what they choose. Wooden
signs range from $30-50. Please pre-register so
we have a head count.
Participants will meet at the store in the mall.

themed craft. Participants will transform puzzle
pieces into a decorative pumpkin picture using paint

Join the experienced instructors from Paint n Fun who
will guide you step by step to create your own
masterpiece. All materials are provided, and no
experience is necessary—just bring your imagination
and enthusiasm!

SOT - KAYAKING - CLAYTOR LAKE - $30
Sept. 30, 9 am - 5 pm, Claytor Lake, VA
If you love being out on the river on our rafting
programs, but want a little more freedom controlling
your own craft, then the Sit-On-Top kayak program is
perfect for you! Take in the sights and sounds of water
splashing around you. We provide full instruction on
how to navigate your own sit-on-top kayak in a safe
environment on calm clear water. We teach you the
proper paddle strokes to navigate your boat. All
equipment is provided. Lunch is provided water front
on this great outdoor program. The deadline to
register is September 23.
